North Stradbroke Island is untouched and unpretentious – a wonderful stretch of wilderness ample with native flora and good ocean wildlife like dolphins, turtles, manta rays and whales. No surprise the those that enterprise there for holidays hold quiet about it!
This architectural seaside retreat is positioned at Level Lookout, on probably the most northeastern tip of the island. ‘As we appeared from the balcony in the direction of Moreton Island we noticed breaching whales on their yearly migration,’ stated proprietor, Judy Bauer, of the primary time she visited the property. ‘It was an indication!’
Judy bought the seaside home in 2017 from the architect, Shane Thompson. His three-storey design privileges the location’s expansive views out over the Coral Sea, and employs intelligent operable equipment to unfold the home throughout summer time. The outside is clad in terracotta tiles is a nod to the cement sheeting of conventional seaside shacks within the surrounding space.
The inside inspiration was drawn from the clear strains and uncooked supplies of the construct. Hoop pine partitions and blackbutt flooring are complemented by Judy’s assortment of furnishings and classic items, all of which create a recent coastal vibe. ‘We wished to take care of the aesthetic of the outside and make sure the furnishings didn’t take approach from the home itself,’ says Judy. ‘In a location as picturesque as Straddie, you wish to maximise each minute taking within the views and having fun with the indoor-outdoor residing.’
