TDF Talks with Florist Gina Lasker of Georgie Boy!

Melbourne has a wonderfully vibrant and creative floristry community, and many of these florists are people without an actual florist shop! MOST of them, like Gina Lasker of Georgie Boy, specialise in events and creative installations – and these florists, like everyone else working in the events industry, have a spent a large portion of 2020 severely affected by lockdown restrictions.

But when the pandemic side-lined Gina’s business earlier this year… she found an opportunity. A simple request from a former client to provide delivered flowers, turned into Buy a Bunch – a hugely successful flower subscription and delivery service, speedily launched during lockdown with a Squarespace website and online store.  This simple offering saw Gina and her partner delivering small but ridiculously beautiful bunches of colourful blooms all over Melbourne on a weekly basis, and it really took off!
